All 3 Ladies of Downton Abbey Chose to Wear Classic Dresses On The Red Carpet
The Movie, Downton Abbey hits cinemas from 13 September 2019. Ladies of Downton Abbey were on the red carpet in their classic dresses. While the world waits to once again enter the grand grounds, lavish parties and sheer decadence of Downton, the world premiere of the highly-anticipated film, Downton Abbey: The Movie, brought us just enough to suffice until it officially hits UK cinemas this Friday (13 September). Staying true to fictional form, the leading ladies of Downton opted for classic silhouettes and color-blocking to walk the red carpet at Leicester Square.
Downton Abbey from small TV screens to cinema
It may be four long years since the hit TV show left our small screens, but if last night’s premiere proves anything, it’s that a movie version is truly welcome in 2019. And Michelle Dockery, Elizabeth McGovern and Laura Carmichael brought opulence à la Downton. While Dockery (Lady Mary) opted for a one-shoulder Galvan gold sequinned “Gilded Roxy” gown, McGovern (Cora, Countess of Grantham) wore a shocking pink off-the-shoulder dress (paired with dazzling jewels, of course), and Carmichael (Lady Edith) kept it simple in a high-neck black fitted dress with an added quirky hand motif. All classic, all expected from Downton’s leading ladies.
What of the film?
Finally, All of the cast from the original show will light up the big screen. So the only notable absence will be Lily James as Lady Rose. While we can remember her character left for New York at the end of the series. Furthermore, Much of the action will center around a visit from King George V and Queen Mary. Then there is a royal visit, too. Mark your calendars as it’s nearly time.
